このお寺さんは、京都市東山区粟田口エリアにあり，天台宗の寺院です。開基（創立者）は伝教大師最澄。なお，「門跡」とは，皇室や摂関家の子弟が入寺する寺院のことだそうです。
Shōren-in is a Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. Also known as the Awata Palace.Shōren-in was formerly the temple of the imperial abbot of the Tendai headquarters on Mount Hiei; the abbot was required to be chosen from the imperial family or high court aristocracy.
